Shawn and Nicholas wanted to try fishing near Tilloo Cut. So, Summer and I packed up the dog, her floatation device, her leash, and set off for Tahiti Beach. The tide was on the rise, but there was still plenty of sandbar exposed. We walked Millie all the way out to the last little wisp of remaining beach. Along the way, Millie trotted in and out of the crystal clear water, sometimes taking the lead but most times matching us step for step. She swam with the floatie and appeared to not be in any type of panic, although she was quite happy to be held and seemed to like that sense of security.

Summer and Millie |
I hooked her leash onto the back of her life vest so that she was tethered to us.
While we swam and floated, Shawn and Nicholas fished nearby. |
Millie got braver and took her own self out into the water. |
Eventually, she was let off the leash. She RACED around and dug holes. |
More swimming with Mommy. |
Eventually this section of sandbar became an island. But, Millie had to go back on the leash because she was really loving her freedom! |
Just above the water line, I lay on my belly and allowed Millie the option to be in the water or on the sand.
Millie chose to stand on my back. |
And then, she got herself all relaxed and laid down...on me. |
We stayed for about two hours, taking turns having Millie duty. |
On the way back to the golf cart, Millie ran into another visiting island dog, Lady, the black lab she played with on the beach a few days ago. And, she met a
new friend! A fellow Bichon-type dog, also wearing a floatie. They had quite a romp, skidding about recklessly and flinging the sand.
I am friend, not foe! |
Shawn and Nicholas were not having much success with their fishing off the Dorro's Cove dock so we went on to Sea Spray for a drink, a dip in their pool, and another round of fishing.
Millie enjoyed a small cup of watered down virgin pina colada...and sitting on me. |
Yum! |
Nicholas finally caught a fish! |
And, got a cool shirt with the Sea Spray logo and nautical coordinates running down the sleeve. |
How long with this shirt stay white? |
Since we were all either salty, sandy, or fishy, we decided to got home, shower and spend the night in the house. Needless to say, first in the bathing order... Millie! She got a super duper sudsy "No More Tears" baby shampoo spa treatment in the sink.
Shawn had read that there was a rocket launch at the Cape. We hustled outside and scanned the sky for a jet trail. I thought it would be much more spectacular from here, since we are east of NASA and the rocket should travel essentially over us in the northern sky. The booster trail was so faint, I was surprised that we could find it at all.
Do you see it? |
You almost have to use your imagination to find it |
Shawn made dinner of pasta and red sauce with added fresh grilled tuna. (Soon, look for a guest blog from Shawn about catching the tuna.)
Cooking in a rental house is always awkward yet fun! |
Sauce. |
"Sea Glass" wine with ice cubes made a perfect pairing! |
After dinner was done and cleaned up, Summer taught me how to play a card game called 313.
She beat me mercilessly! |
We were clean, well fed, and surrounded by family.
XOXO |
